Golf: Haven, Nativity score opening-day wins

Defending Schuylkill League champion Schuylkill Haven opened its 2024 golf season Thursday with a 346-372 victory over Mahanoy Area in a Division II match at Schuylkill Country Club.

Eli Barton and Connor Haag each carded 84s for the Hurricanes. Chase McCole paced Mahanoy Area with an 86.

In other action, Trey Keating shot a 72 as Nativity downed Weatherly 323-449 in a Division II match.

Friday’s match between Weatherly and Marian was postponed until Aug. 16.
