FACTORYVILLE — Lackawanna Trail proved to be too much for Tri-Valley to handle.
Lackawanna Trail scored four offensive touchdown and held Tri-Valley scoreless as the Dawgs fell to the Lions 42-0 Friday during the District 11 Class 2/11 subregional championship game at Lackawanna Trail High School.

Postgame, Schuylkill League President Dr. Stephen Toth presented Tri-Valley (7-5) with the District 11 Class A trophy, being as the Dawgs were the final D-11 team remaining in the field. Tri-Valley defeated Marian 28-0 in the semifinal round on Nov. 1.
I don’t want (Tri-Valley) to forget about all the good stuff they did,” Dawgs coach Jeff Sampson said. “Even though, you know, we came away with a loss tonight, but all the good stuff that led up to this.
The game was a defensive stalemate early in the first quarter. Defensive backs Blake Schwartz and Doyle Flory each had a crucial pass breakup on a Loins’ drive that ended in a turnover on downs.
Schwartz, who plays quarterback on offense, mixed it up in the run game along with Cole Gemberling and Parker Hatter for Tri-Valley. The Dawgs got a first down as a member of Lackawanna Trail’s defense jumped offsides on a third-and-short at midfield, but Tri-Valley couldn’t maintain the drive and punted.
“We were doubted all year, but we worked out butts off when nobody was looking all summer long and we worked hard all year,” Schwartz said. “Every game didn’t go our way, but in the end, we were District 11 champions.”
The Lions run game slowly came alive as Issac Ryon, Demitius Douglas and Logan Edwards powered the offense.
Lackawanna Trail owned the second quarter and scored a total of 21 points all on the ground. Ryon cracked the first score of the game on a six-yard scamper and Edwards muscled in the next two scores.
Following halftime, the Lions weren’t letting up.
Lackawanna Trail added 14 more points in the first four minutes of the third quarter and took a stranglehold on the contest. This time the Lions scoring came through the air. Jervis, the quarterback, found receiver Max Kimmel for an 11-yard TD. Less than a minute later following a kickoff recovery, Jervis hit Ryan for a 28-yard score out of the backfield.
