Girls’ BB Roundup: Smeltz sparks Vikings’ rout of Halifax

TOWER CITY — Sage Smeltz poured in a game-high 29 points as Williams Valley rolled to a 62-31 non-league victory over Halifax in girls’ basketball action Wednesday night.

Mallory Miller added 15 points in the season opener for Williams Valley, which opened the game on a 14-5 run, then used a 17-5, third-quarter spurt to pull away.

TAMAQUA — Lauren Ligenza tickled the twines for a game-high 23 points while pulling down eight rebounds as the Blue Raiders downed Catasauqua in a non-league contest.

Millie Black added 12 points for Tamaqua, which used a 15-5, second-quarter run to build a 39-21halftime advantage. Kolbe Robb had nine points and nine steals for the Blue Raiders (2-0).
