HS Wrestling: Schuylkill Haven knocks off Mount Carmel

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Xavier Dierolf (189) opened the night with a one-point decision, setting the tone for Schuylkill Haven’s 31-27 victory over Mount Carmel on Friday in a non-league boys’ wrestling dual meet.
Dierolf nipped Evan Jones 8-7 to boost the Hurricanes (2-18), who took four of the five contested bouts.
Bryce Reber (285) followed by pinning Yadiel Alicea in 3:10 to give Schuylkill Haven a 12-0 lead.
After Trayten Hasenauer (107) and McKenzie Blevins (114) picked up forfeits, Dylan Benulis (121) notched a fall in 3:15 over Jayden Cruz.
The five-bout run put the Hurricanes up 27-0.
Four forfeits then went to the Red Tornadoes (6-16).
At 152, Jack Krammes racked up a 22-11 major decision over Alexander LaMas to give Schuylkill Haven a 31-24 lead with one bout left. Krammes’ win clinched the dual meet for the Hurricanes.
