Ten Schuylkill League basketball teams will embark on the road to Hershey when the PIAA Basketball Tournament begins this weekend.

First-round games will be held Friday and Saturday at the home gyms of the teams on the top half of each bracket, unless that team’s gym is not capable of hosting a PIAA playoff game.

Six games involving Schuylkill League teams will be held Friday and four more will be played Saturday. A complete schedule is included below.

There will be a doubleheader Friday night at Martz Hall as Pottsville (21-6) hosts District 1 fifth-place finisher Penncrest (21-3) in a Class 5A boys’ game at 6 p.m., followed by a Class 3A girls’ game between Schuylkill Haven (22-6) and District 12 fourth-place finisher Bodine (9-7) at 7:30 p.m.

Also Friday night, Williams Valley (22-3) will host District 4 runner-up Northeast Bradford (20-7) in a Class AA girls’ contest at 7 p.m., Marian (21-4) will take on District 12 runner-up MaST Charter II (2-3) in a Class AA girls’ matchup at 5:30 p.m. at Bensalem High School, Nativity (16-10) will face District 3 champion High Point Baptist (15-6) in a Class A boys’ clash at 5 p.m. at Exeter Township HS in Reading, and Lourdes (8-17) treks to Chambersburg to face District 3 runner-up Shalom Christian Academy (12-6) in a Class A boys’ game at 7 p.m.

Saturday, the Lourdes girls (20-6) will entertain District 3 sixth-place finisher Veritas Academy (19-5) at 4 p.m., Marian (13-11) hosts District 3 runner-up Linville Hill Christian (19-5) in a Class A boys’ game at 2:30 p.m., Minersville (22-5) will trek to Loyalsock High School to face District 4 runner-up Warrior Run (20-7) in a Class 3A boys’ game at 4 p.m. and Mahanoy Area (21-4) embarks to Philadelphia to face District 12 runner-up Audenreid Charter (11-14) at 2 p.m.

Tickets for all PIAA basketball playoff games cost $8 (plus applicable fees) and must be purchased online at www.piaa.org. There is not a senior citizen discount like the District 11 playoffs. Everyone must purchase a ticket. Tickets go on sale at 6 p.m. Monday.
