Lourdes’ next stop in the PIAA Class A girls’ basketball playoffs will be the home of the Schuylkill League playoffs.
The District 4 champion Red Raiders (23-6) will take on District 3 champion Linville Hill Christian (24-2) at 1 p.m. Saturday at Martz Hall in Pottsville in a Class A girls’ state semifinal. The winner advances to the PIAA Class A state championship game set for Friday, March 28, at noon at the Giant Center in Hershey.
Saturday’s game will be the first of a doubleheader. The Linville Hill boys (22-5) will face District 4 champ Northwest Area (26-3) in a boys’ Class AA state semifinal at 2:30 p.m.
Lourdes advanced with a 54-39 victory over District 1 runner-up Delaware County Christian on Saturday afternoon at Hamburg Area High School. Linville Hill followed that Lourdes game with a 48-25 demolition of District 3 third-place finisher Greenwood in the second game of that twinbill atop Hawk Hill.
Linville Hill and Lourdes squared off in last year’s PIAA Class A playoffs with the Lancaster County school defeating the Red Raiders 47-27 in the second round.
Tickets for Saturday’s state semifinal cost $8 (plus applicable fees) and are only available online at www.piaa.org. All spectators must purchase a ticket, and no tickets will be sold at the door.
