HS Baseball Roundup: Eagles, Dawgs, Vikings pull off close wins
ORIWGSBURG — Riley Sebastian went 2-for-3 with two RBIs as Blue Mountain defeated Panther Valley 3-0 in a Schuylkill League Division I baseball game Tuesday at Allen Greenawalt Field.
Sebastian hit an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning and followed with an RBI double that gave the Eagles (2-2, 1-0 D-I) the lead 3-0 in the bottom of the third. Aidan Grace doubled and scored a run, while Aiden Finn scored on a passed ball in the first inning.
Evan Setlock pitched a complete game three-hitter for Blue Mountain and earned his first pitching victory of the season. He struck out seven and didn’t surrender a walk across all seven innings on the hill.
For the Panthers, Danny Wehr threw six innings and struck out 11. Gavin Yuricheck, Logan Fisher and Brody Breiner each collected a hit.
Tri-Valley 8, North Schuylkill 6
HEGINS — Braeden Doyle collected four RBIs as Tri-Valley edged North Schuylkill in a Division I game.
The Spartans (0-2, 0-1 D-I) got on the board early and led 6-0 at the end of the top of the third inning. Hunter Rogers hit a two-run home run in the top of the first, while Kolton Joyce, Stephen Minihan, Kevin Jones and Cody Osenbach each scored a run in the third.
The Dawgs (3-0, 1-0) rallied for five runs in the bottom of the fourth and cut North Schuylkill’s lead to one run. Gavin Scheib had an RBI single in the third before Doyle cleared the bases. Peyton Schley added an RBI.
Tri-Valley tied the game 6-6 after Scheib scored on an error but eventually took the lead as Doyle tacked on another RBI and Jason Stewart hit an RBI triple. Gavin Klock earned his first victory as a pitcher for the Dawgs.
Williams Valley 4, Marian 3
WILLIAMSTOWN — Errors plagued Marian as Williams Valley’s Cody Boehmer scored a walk-off run on a throwing error and the Vikings downed the Colts in dramatic fashion in Division II action.
Marian led 3-1 going to the bottom of the sixth inning. Williams Valley tied the game on consecutive wild pitches with two outs. Fletcher Thompson caught two runners stealing for the Vikings and had two hits.
