HS Softball: Pottsville defeats Wyomissing

POTTSVILLE — Peyton Eckert pitched a complete game, striking out six and walking none, as Pottsville held off Wyomissing 3-1 on Saturday in a non-league softball game at the CACL Complex.

The Crimson Tide took the lead in the third inning when Lana Cromyak hit an RBI triple and scored on Eckert’s sacrifice fly. Aubrey Scanlan added a single and an RBI for Pottsville.

PINE GROVE — Tailyn Bohr doubled and knocked in three runs to lead Class 3A Pine Grove to a non-league victory over Class 6A Whitehall at Stump Field.

Jamie Dinger added a 2-for-4 day with two RBIs and a run scored. Hannah Aungst went 2-for-3 with a triple and three runs scored for the Cardinals, who jumped out to a 7-1 lead after three innings. Meadow Umbenhauer went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Chelcy Clark pitched the first six innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs while striking out 10 and walking one. Dinger pitched the seventh and struck out two.

Frantz went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while McGrath went 3-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored.

Molly Hess homered and drove in four runs for the Seals.

The Fillies banged out 13 hits. Other top hitters included Hailey Treskolasky, 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored; Danica Karlick, 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI; and Emily Upanavage, a double and two RBIs.

Kayla Birrer went the distance in the circle, scattering eight singles, while striking out five and walking none.

ALLENTOWN — Naomi Knitter pitched a three-inning no-hitter with seven strikeouts as Tamaqua evened its record at 3-3 with a non-league win over Executive Education Academy at Patriots Park.

Leah Crowley homered and drove in two runs for the Blue Raiders. Ceanna Gormley, Nico Conahan, Megan Linkhorst and Knitter added two hits apiece for Tamaqua. Gormley and Knitter had two RBIs apiece.
