500-n-sch1

PINE GROVE — The cold, windy day had no effect on the North Schuylkill boys’ and girls’ track and field teams Tuesday as the Spartans swept a tri-meet with Pine Grove and Halifax at Pine Grove’s Cardinal Stadium.

Lauren Powis won three events and Olivia Greblick swept the hurdles as the North Schuylkill girls topped Pine Grove 74-63 in a Schuylkill League Division I meet. Both teams easily cruised past Halifax in non-league play, the Spartans winning 122-6 and the Cardinals winning 103-15.

Powis dominated in the field events, taking top honors in the high jump, triple jump and discus. Rylee Conley (1,600), Brynn Wartman (3,200) and Madelyn Zilker (shot put) added individual wins for North Schuylkill (2-1, 1-1 D-I), which won nine events.

Viktorya Luckenbach captured the 100- and 200-meter dashes for Pine Grove (1-2, 0-2) and ran a leg on the Cardinals’ winning 400 relay. Carley Brown (400), Samantha Eisenhauer (800), Tayten Stevens (long jump) and Hannah Leininger (javelin) added wins for the Cardinals.
