HS Baseball: Dawgs narrowly defeat Cardinals

PINE GROVE — Trey Porter singled, scored a run and collected two RBIs as Tri-Valley defeated Pine Grove 3-2 in eight innings Tuesday in a Schuylkill League Division I baseball game at Walter Stump Stadium.
Wyatt Snyder went 2-for-4, doubled and had two RBIs for the Cardinals, who led 1-0 through six innings. Carson Lengle pitched seven innings, allowed two hits and struck out 13 for Pine Grove (5-4, 2-2). Lengle also added a hit and three stolen bases.
Freshman Peyton Schley pitched seven innings, allowed four hits and struck out nine for Tri-Valley (7-1, 3-1). The Dawgs tied the game 1-1 in the top of the seventh inning, and later tacked on two more in the top of the eighth.
Gavin Scheib went 2-for-3 and scored a run for the Dawgs, while Owen Miller pitched the bottom of the eighth and secured the save.
