HS Baseball Roundup: Tri-Valley knocks off Tamaqua

HEGINS — Jason Stewart went 2-for-3 and collected all three RBIs as Tri-Valley edged Tamaqua 3-2 in a Schuylkill League Division I game Tuesday at Edwin H. Ziegler field.
Two of Stewart’s RBIs came with two outs in the third inning as the Dawgs (8-1, 4-1 D-I) trailed the Blue Raiders 1-0. Bailey Clark started the inning with a double, Peyton Schley reached on a fielder’s choice and Stewart knocked them both in with a single to left field.
After Tamaqua (7-1, 3-1) tied the game 2-2 in the top of the fifth inning, Stewart put Tri-Valley back on top with an RBI single to right field in the bottom half.
Braeden Doyle pitched a complete game, allowing one earned run and striking out seven batters for the Dawgs.
Mason Ligenza hit a solo home run and Cooper Ansbach added an RBI for the Blue Raiders, who suffered their first loss of the season. Ligenza and Ansbach combined to strike out 12 batters over six innings.

Minersville 7, Williams Valley 2
MINERSVILLE — Nolan Plesnarski, Garrett Sukeena and Logan Hutsko each doubled as Minersville defeated Williams Valley in a Division II game at Del Hauck Field.
Plesnarski pitched six innings, allowed one earned run and struck out six for the Battlin’ Miners. He earned the win. Sukeena and Hutsko each had two hits and an RBI.
For the Vikings, Fletcher Thompson and Peyton Adams both collected two hits.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Chase Yoder pitched a three-inning no-hitter as Schuylkill Haven rolled past Weatherly in a Division II game at Buffington Field.
Talan Spittler and Yoder each went 2-for-3 and combined for five RBIs for the Hurricanes. Schuylkill Haven got off to a fast start, collecting eight runs in the bottom of the first inning and adding six more in the second.
