HS Softball: Schuylkill Haven holds off Oley Valley

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Allie Scherer’s three-run double keyed a big first inning that lifted Schuylkill Haven over Oley Valley 5-4 on Friday in a non-league softball game.

The Hurricanes scored four in the first for a 4-1 lead.

Nickie Domermuth went 2-for-2 with a solo home run in the fourth inning for Schuylkill Haven.

Teagan Wehr finished 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored for Haven.

Grace Line pitched a complete game, striking out seven and walking none, to improve to 6-2 in the circle.

Panther Valley 24, Jim Thorpe 13

JIM THORPE — Morgan O’Brien went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and six RBIs as Panther Valley outlasted Jim Thorpe in a non-league slugfest.

The Panthers fell behind 5-0 after the first inning but battled back with six runs in the second and six more in the seventh.

Kyla McQuillen also had a big game for Panther Valley, going 4-for-6 with a double, five runs scored and three RBIs.

Other top hitters for the Panthers included Caroline Breslin, 3-for-5, three runs and two RBIs; and Isabella D’Ancona, 1-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBIs.

WEATHERLY — Brynn Barcavage led a 17-hit attack by going 3-for-3 with two doubles, three runs scored and six RBIs as Lourdes outslugged Weatherly in a non-league game.

Three other Red Raiders had three hits apiece. Arianna Adams went 3-for-5 with four runs scored and one RBI; Gabby Dusendschine finished 3-for-5 with two doubles, four runs scored and two RBIs; and Paige Wydra went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Also for Lourdes, Karissa Koronkiewicz went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and three runs; and Reaghan Fuller finished 2-for-2 with a double, four runs scored and three RBIs.

For Weatherly, Rebecca Caldwell went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored.
