District 11 Baseball: Nativity trounces Weatherly in Class A semifinal round

FOUNTAINS SPRINGS — Ryan Examitis tossed a two-hit shutout and drove in three runs to lead Nativity to a 15-0 victory over Weatherly in four innings in a District 11 Class A semifinal game Tuesday at Robert Wetzel Field.

Examitis struck out six without a walk to earn the win. At the plate, he tripled and scored twice as part of a nine-hit, 15-run outburst. Barry Jenkins went 2-for-2 with three RBIs, while Stephen Karinch, Ryan Grabowski and Zeno Rugh each had two hits.

Nativity (9-11) drew 11 walks and stole 10 bases in the win. Weatherly (2-18) got hits from Kyle Reiner and Raymond Montz.

Bangor 5, Blue Mountain 3

ORWIGSBURG — Bangor rallied for four runs in the top of the sixth inning to defeat Blue Mountain 5-3 in a District 11 Class 5A quarterfinals game Tuesday at Allen Greenawalt Field.

Blue Mountain (13-9) held a 3-1 lead before the late rally. Aidan Grace allowed four earned runs over six innings and took the loss. The Eagles had five hits from five different players but stranded eight runners. Grace, Wyatt Barnes and Brady Strause each singled in the loss.

Notre Dame-Green Pond 3, Pine Grove 2

EASTON — Notre Dame scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to walk off Pine Grove 3-2 in a District 11 Class 3A quarterfinals contest.

Pine Grove (10-10) took a 2-0 lead in the sixth on an RBI double by Carson Lengle and a run-scoring single from Jake Hatter. Quinn Brommer allowed just one earned run over 6.1 innings but took a no-decision.
