BARNESVILLE — Sean Misstishin’s large collection of Schuylkill County Amateur Golf championships continues to grow.
The Ashland golfer won his sixth Schuylkill County Amateur Golf Medal Play Championship on Sunday, shooting a final-round 5-under-par 64 to win the two-day, 36-hole championship held Saturday and Sunday at White Birch Golf Course.
Misstishin finished the 64th annual tournament with an 8-under 66-64—130 on the par-69 course, one stroke ahead of Nick Hand (64-67—131). First-day leader Luke Morgan (63-69—132) and Jim Dietz Jr. (69-63—132) finished tied for third.
Misstishin has won medal-play titles in 2008, ’14, ’17, ’19, ’23 and now 2025. He also captured the 2006 match-play crown and won four straight Schuylkill County Junior Golf championships from 2003-06. He’s third all-time in medal-play championships behind Dave Linkchorst and Jim Bohrman, who each have eight.
The top 16 golfers after Saturday’s opening round competed in the championship flight, while the remaining 24 golfers were broken into a 12-person 1st Flight and 12-golfer 2nd Flight.
Joe Orsulak captured the 1st Flight with a 77-71—148, while Curtis Dunn took top honors in the 2nd Flight with a 79-71—150.
The top five placewinners in the championship flight and top four finishers in the 1st Flight and 2nd Flight received monetary prizes. Misstishin collected $250, while Orsulak and Dunn each took home $230.
