District 24 Little League: Tri-Valley 12s, Blue Mountain 10s advance to title game

The championship games for the final two brackets of the District 24 Little League Tournament are set.

The Blue Mountain 8-10-year-old all-stars and Tri-Valley Major Division stars advanced to their respective championship games with semifinal victories Saturday afternoon.

Blue Mountain started the matinee twinbill at Cressona with a 15-0 victory over Minersville in an 8-10-year-old semifinal. Blue Mountain (5-0) will host second-seeded Pottsville in Sunday’s championship game at 1 p.m. in Cressona.

Tri-Valley followed with a thrilling, 8-7 victory over Blue Mountain in a Major Division semifinal that lasted seven innings. Rylen Maurer’s three-run homer in the top of the sixth inning with one out tied the game at 7-7 and forced extra innings.

Tri-Valley (5-1) advances to the Major Division championship game against top-seeded Ashland (5-0) at 6 p.m. at Eureka Park.

Here’s a look at the playoff glances for the three divisions of the District 24 Little League Tournament. Blue Mountain has already won the 9-11-year-old crown and will compete in the Section 3 Little League Tournament that begins Monday in Pottsville.
