HS Girls’ Volleyball: Blue Mountain wins Cardinal Clash

Saturday’s non-league girls’ volleyball results
PINE GROVE — With a 26-24 victory over Tri-Valley in the finals, Blue Mountain captured the championship at the Cardinal Clash hosted by Pine Grove. After pool play, the Eagles entered the knockout rounds as the No. 5 seed.
In Pool A, Pine Grove went 8-1, followed by Pottsgrove at 7-2, Williams Valley at 2-7 and Schuylkill Haven at 1-8.
Northern Lebanon topped Pool B at 9-0. Nativity went 5-4, with Shamokin Area at 3-6 and Halifax at 1-8.
In Pool C, Tri-Valley went 8-1, followed by Blue Mountain at 5-4, ELCO at 4-5 and Millersburg at 1-8.
In the knockout rounds, Blue Mountain topped Schuylkill Haven 25-11; Nativity defeated Millersburg 25-18; ELCO beat Halifax 25-9; and Shamokin Area downed Williams Valley 25-19.
In the quarterfinals, No. 1 Northern Lebanon downed Shamokin Area 25-16; No. 7 ELCO upset Pine Grove 25-20; No. 3 Tri-Valley topped Nativity 25-16; and Blue Mountain ousted Pottsgrove 25-11.
In the semifinals, Blue Mountain beat Northern Lebanon 25-17, and Tri-Valley dumped ELCO 25-15.
Panther Valley 3, Pocono Mountain West 0
POCONO SUMMIT — Morgan Orsulak compiled 19 kills, 16 assists, 11 service points, three aces and six digs to lead Panther Valley to a 25-19, 25-10, 25-16 victory over Pocono Mountain West.
Jaelynn Browdy added 16 kills, 20 assists and six service points for the Panthers. Other top players included Caroline Breslin, five kills and 13 digs; and Jessica Hackash, four kills, two blocks, 12 service points, three aces and four digs.
Pocono Mountain West won JV 2-0.
