HS Soccer: Blue Mountain’s boys down Pine Grove in Division I thriller

Monday’s boys’ soccer results
ORWIGSBURG — Keenan Hall’s second-half goal lifted Blue Mountain to a 1-0 victory over Pine Grove in a Schuylkill League Division I boys’ soccer match Monday at the Eagles’ Nest.
Dylan Knittle assisted on Hall’s goal.
Caden Wargo needed to make just one save to notch the shutout in goal for the Eagles (1-1, 1-0 D-I).
Peyton Renninger made nine saves for Pine Grove (2-1, 0-1).
Lourdes 5, Tamaqua 1
SHAMOKIN — Majed Kanafani notched a hat trick to lead Lourdes to a Schuylkill League Division I victory.
Orrin Mariano added one goal and one assist for the Red Raiders (1-0, 1-0 D-I). Josh Miller scored Lourdes’ other goal, assisted by Brody Brinkash.
Lusvin Lumas scored a goal for Tamaqua, which trailed 2-1 at halftime.
Nathan Yablonski made 15 saves for Lourdes; Brayden Honey (5 saves) and J.J. Kovatch (2 saves) played in goal for Tamaqua (0-1, 0-1).
Monday’s girls’ soccer results
Minersville 8, Jim Thorpe 0
MINERSVILLE — Hope Motuk notched two goals and one assist as Minersville rolled past Jim Thorpe in a non-league match.
Kloee Horoschak added two goals for the Battlin’ Miners (2-0), while Jenna Cullen contributed one goal and one assist. Bella Plesnarski, Alivia Handling and Mimi Ilsley also netted goals for Minersville. Grace Sterner, Danica Gill and Jewelisa Perez dished out assists as Minersville scored six goals in the second half.
Bella Rizzardi made five saves in posting the shutout in goal.




Tamaqua 4, Tri-Valley 2
TAMAQUA — Gabby Chistakoff, Evelyn Leinbach, Shaylee Gormley and Katie Fredericks scored one goal apiece as Tamaqua doubled up Tri-Valley in non-league action. Freshmen Chistakoff and Shaylee Gormley posted their first-ever varsity goals.
Sophia Sitlinger and Fredericks had one assist each for the Blue Raiders (1-0).
Maggie Hoffman-Long scored both goals for Tri-Valley (0-1).
Ceanna Gormley had 10 saves for Tamaqua; Sophia Holt recorded two saves for Tri-Valley.
Tri-Valley won the JV match 6-0.
