ORWIGSBURG — Blue Mountain took a major step toward winning another Schuylkill League Division I golf title Tuesday afternoon.
Josh Lesak and Cole Fry each carded 7-over-par 79s as the Eagles swept a doubleheader with Lourdes and Pottsville at Schuylkill Country Club. Blue Mountain defeated Lourdes 321-375 and Pottsville 321-361.
Maxum DiRenzo paced the Crimson Tide with an 82, while Vivian Reiprish posted the best score for Lourdes with a 92.
The victory leaves the Eagles at 7-1 in league competition, 1.5 matches ahead of second-place Pottsville (5-2, 5-2) in the Division I standings with two rounds left to play. Blue Mountain can clinch the division and a berth in the Schuylkill League team championships with a victory over Tamaqua (4-4, 4-3).
In other Schuylkill League action Tuesday, Jude Maziekas posted a 5-under 67 at Mountain Valley Golf Course to lead North Schuylkill past Panther Valley 333-393; Emma Troutman carded a 71 and Garrett Sukeena shot a 72 as Minersville edged Weatherly 330-336; and Connor Bowman’s 76 led Mahanoy Area past Pine Grove 349-419.
In non-league action, Nativity downed Tamaqua 335-364 as Trey Keating carded a 79. The Blue Raiders’ Sam Vinc earned medalist honors with an even-par 72.
