HS Soccer: Blue Mountain girls cruise past Tamaqua

Blue Mountain 10, Tamaqua 1
TAMAQUA — Ella Zelinsky scored two goals and Riley Fogarty dished out two assists to lead Blue Mountain past Tamaqua on Saturday in a Schuylkill League Division I match.
Alanza Smith made two saves for the Eagles (4-1, 4-0 D-I).
Katelynn Fredericks scored a goal for Tamaqua (2-3, 0-3).
North Schuylkill 2, Pine Grove 0
FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Keira Wengrenovich made four saves to post a clean sheet for North Schuylkill in a Division I win over Pine Grove (2-2, 2-2 D-I).
Mia McDonald scored a first-half goal to give the Spartans (3-4, 3-1) the only score they needed.
Fleetwood 4, Pottsville 1
POTTSVILLE — Bella Wright scored off an assist from Riley Davis for Pottsville, but Fleetwood defeated the Crimson Tide in a non-league match.
Sophie Toucher had two goals and one assist for Fleetwood.
Pottsville (2-4) outshot the Tigers 19-15.
Rose Russell (7 saves) and Lucy Dougherty (4 saves) played in goal for the Tide.
Boys’ Soccer
Tri-Valley 5, Salem Christian 1
HEGINS — Nathan Hillard netted four goals to lead Tri-Valley past Salem Christian in a non-league match.
Tyler Mowery added one goal and one assist for the Bulldogs (4-2).
Brayden Leese made five saves in goal for Tri-Valley.
Montgomery 3, Lourdes 2
SHAMOKIN — Orrin Mariano scored two goals for Lourdes in a non-league loss to Montgomery.
Nathan Yablonski made nine saves for the Red Raiders (2-3).
Cross Country
Devils’ Espinal takes 8th at Centaur
CENTER VALLEY — Shenandoah Valley’s Robert Espinal placed eighth in a field of 247 at the Centaur Invitational at DeSales University.
Espinal clocked a 17:10 on the 5,000-meter course, the same one used for the District 11 Championships.
Pennridge’s Jackson Warfel won the race in 16:30. Blue Mountain ranked 12th of 34 teams in the standings.
On the girls’ side, North Schuylkill’s Genevieve Dando ran 21:55 to finish 25th in a field of 206. Saucon Valley star Virginia Kraus won the race in 17:59. Blue Mountain placed 11th among 29 teams.
Girls’ Volleyball
Panthers make Ephrata quarters
EPHRATA — Caroline Breslin had 23 kills and 27 digs as Panther Valley advanced to the quarterfinals at the Ephrata Tournament.
Morgan Orsulak tallied 20 assists, while JaeLynn Browdy smacked 17 kills for Panther Valley.
In pool play, the Panthers fell to Conestoga Valley 25-7, 25-19; swept Lebanon 25-13, 25-14; split with Linville Hill 23-25, 25-22; and beat Warwick 25-21, 27-26.
In the quarterfinals, Cocalico eliminated Panther Valley 25-23.
