HS Football: North Schuylkill to induct 5 into Football Hall of Fame

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — The North Schuylkill Football Hall of Fame will induct five new members as part of its 49th class during a halftime ceremony of Friday’s game against Southern Lehigh at Ghosh Orthodontics Field at Spartan Stadium.

CLASS OF 2025

Zachary Chowansky

A 2020 graduate, Zachary Chowansky was a four-year starter at linebacker and a three-year starter at running back. As a junior, he earned Hazleton Standard-Speaker All-Area honorable mention at running back. As a senior captain, Chowansky rushed for 1,485 yards and scored 17 touchdowns, earning Republican-Herald All-Area second-team and Hazleton Standard-Speaker All-Area first-team honors.

He also was recognized as the T-102 Player of the Game against Jim Thorpe and Defensive Player of the Game against Wyomissing.

In addition to football, Chowansky earned four varsity letters in baseball before continuing his athletic career as an outfielder at Millersville University.

He graduated from Millersville with a degree in allied health technology and went on to complete a master’s in athletic training at Commonwealth University-Lock Haven. Chowansky is pursuing his physician assistant graduate degree at Commonwealth University-Lock Haven while also serving as an athletic trainer for UPMC.

Tyler Elsdon

A 2020 graduate, Tyler Elsdon was a four-year starter on offense and defense. As a senior linebacker and captain, he was a finalist for Mr. PA Football (1A-3A).  A two-time first-team Football News Class 3A All-State and PA Writers Class 3A All-State selection, Elsdon was named to the PennLive All-Pennsylvania High School Football Team.

He earned WNEP Super 16 Dream Team and All-EasternPAFootball.com Team honors and was twice selected Schuylkill League Defensive Player of the Year by the Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association. He was recognized as the Hazleton Standard-Speaker All-Area Player of the Year and the Republican-Herald Player of the Year.

Earlier in his career, Elsdon earned All-Schuylkill League first-team honors, Hazleton Standard-Speaker All-Area honors, Republican-Herald All-Area second-team recognition and was named a Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association All-Star.

In addition to football, he was a two-year letterman in track and field.

Following high school, Elsdon was a four-year letterman at Penn State University, where he played linebacker and earned multiple Academic All-Big Ten honors. He graduated with a degree in health policy administration along with a graduate certificate in business development and change. He is a sales representative with Stryker.

Jake Green

A 2020 graduate, Jake Green was a four-year starter on both the defensive line and at fullback/H-back. As a senior captain, he earned selection to the Big 33 Pennsylvania team, was named the 3A All-State Defensive Lineman of the Year by Pennsylvania Football News and received the T-102 Lineman of the Year award.

Green also was recognized by the Pennsylvania Football News Writers and Coaches All-State teams as a first-team defensive lineman and a second-team nose guard during his junior and senior seasons.  His additional accolades include: two-time WNEP Super 16 Dream Team (defensive line), two-time All-Eastern PA Football first team (defensive line), four-time Hazleton Standard-Speaker All-Area (defensive line), three-time Republican Herald All-Area first team (defensive line), three-time Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association first team (defensive line/fullback) and three-time Hazleton Standard-Speaker All-Area first team (fullback).

In addition to football, Green earned three varsity letters in baseball.

Following high school, Green was a four-year letterman with the Villanova University football program, appearing in every game of his career. He started three years on the defensive line and one year at fullback. Green graduated from Villanova with a degree in communications and is an orthopedic clinical sales specialist with Crosslink-Stryker.

Jaden Leiby

A 2020 graduate, Jaden Leiby was a four-year starter at defensive back and a two-year starter at quarterback. As a sophomore, he earned Hazleton Standard-Speaker All-Area honorable mention (defensive back). His junior season brought numerous honors, including Class 3A All-EasternPAFootball.com team (specialist), Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association first-team (quarterback), Dream Team (quarterback), Schuylkill League All-League Division I (quarterback), Division I Offensive Player of the Year, Republican-Herald All-Area first-team (quarterback) and Hazleton Standard-Speaker Offensive Player of the Year.

As a senior captain, Leiby was named to the PA Writers Class 3A All-State team (quarterback), the PFN Coaches Select All-State Class 3A team (specialist) and the Class 3A EasternPAFootball.com first-team (specialist). He also earned Republican-Herald All-Area first-team (defense, athlete) and Hazleton Standard-Speaker All-Area team honors (quarterback, defensive back).

In addition to football, Leiby was a four-year starter in baseball.

He went on to earn a degree in elementary education from Bloomsburg University and is completing his student teaching at North Schuylkill while also serving as a motivational speaker.

Jesse White Jr.

A 2020 graduate, Jesse White Jr. was a three-year starter at tight end and defensive end. As a senior captain, he earned All-State Honorable Mention (defensive end). He was also a two-time Republican-Herald All-Area first-team selection (defensive end) and a two-time Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association Dream Team first-team honoree (defensive end).

White earned two Lineman of the Game awards and was twice named T-102 Defensive Player of the Game.

In addition to football, White was a two-year letterman in baseball. He continued his football career at East Stroudsburg University, where he played three years at defensive end and defensive tackle.

He is pursuing his degree in secondary education. He is employed at Minersville Area High School as a special education aide and serves as an assistant varsity football coach.
