HS Soccer: Minersville girls shut out Tamaqua

GIRLS
Minersville 2, Tamaqua 0
TAMAQUA — Grace Sterner assisted on both goals as Minersville defeated Tamaqua in a non-league girls’ soccer match Saturday.
Hope Motuk found the back of the next to give Minersville (9-1-2) a 1-0 lead at halftime. Kloee Horoschak added an insurance goal in the second half for the Miners.
Bella Rizzardi made eight saves to earn the shutout in goal for Minersville. Ceanna Gormley stopped 10 shots for Tamaqua (4-5).
Pine Grove 5, Tri-Valley 2
HEGINS — Kendra Umbenhauer scored a hat trick to lead Pine Grove to a non-league win over Tri-Valley.
Dani High assisted on two of Umbenhauer’s goals. Khloe Jessman assisted on the other. Hannah Aungst and Gianna Pompei added one goal apiece for the Cardinals (5-4-1), who led 3-2 at halftime.
Maggie Hoffman-Long had one goal and one assist for the Bulldogs (3-7). Olivia Horoschak scored Tri-Valley’s other goal.
Sophia Holt made four saves for Tri-Valley; Alyssa Moyer had one save for Pine Grove.
Pine Grove won the JV match 2-1.
Schuylkill Valley 2, Blue Mountain 1
LEESPORT — Phoebe Glenn netted a second-half goal for Blue Mountain (7-2), but it wasn’t enough in a non-league loss to Schuylkill Valley (11-0).
Presley Finkbiner and Elyssa Sellers scored goals to give the Panthers a 2-0 halftime lead.
Karley Koch stopped five shots for the Eagles.
Weatherly 1, Marian 0
WEATHERLY — Maci Kane’s second-half goal lifted Weatherly over Marian in a non-league match.
Kayla Kennelly made 16 saves for the Wreckers (2-7). Katie Knock stopped 13 shots for the Fillies (1-9).
BOYS
Pottsville 3, Tamaqua 2 (2 OT)
POTTSVILLE — Juan Moreno’s second goal of the day, this one in the second overtime, lifted Pottsville to a Division I victory over Tamaqua.
Billy Davis assisted on the game-winner for the Crimson Tide (5-4-1, 4-3 D-I).
Lusvin Lumas gave Tamaqua a 1-0 halftime lead with the only goal in the first 40 minutes.
Davis, assisted by Jayden Hossler, netted the equalizer in the second half. Back came Tamaqua (2-8, 2-5), regaining a 2-1 advantage on Chase Behr’s goal.
Again, Pottsville tied the match 2-2 when Moreno scored off an assist by Brogan Rooney.
Landon Trout made two saves for the Tide; Jakin Tamagini stopped 13 shots for the Blue Raiders.
Pottsville won the JV match 2-0.
Tri-Valley 7, Notre Dame-ES 0
HEGINS — Nathan Hillard racked up six goals and one assist as Tri-Valley routed Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg (1-5) in a non-league match.
Riley Kaslavage netted Tri-Valley’s other goal. Garett Leitzel dished out three assists for the Bulldogs (7-4).
Brayden Leese made two saves in goal for Tri-Valley.
Lourdes 9, Williams Valley 2
WILLIAMSTOWN — Orrin Mariano had three goals as Lourdes downed Williams Valley in a non-league match.
Also for the Red Raiders (5-6), Majed Kanafani tallied two goals and three assists, while Brody Brinkash dished out two assists.
For Williams Valley (2-9), Collin Berger and John Rautzahn netted goals. Ethan Lebo had one assist.
Xzavion Tennis made 15 saves for the Vikings; Nathan Yablonski stopped 12 shots for Lourdes.
Marian 12, Weatherly 1
WEATHERLY — Edison Mitchell scored four goals to power Marian to a non-league victory over Weatherly.
Chase Haubner added two goals and one assist for the Colts (1-8). Isa Gjoca netted two goals for Marian.
Corbin Wagner scored a goal for Weatherly (0-10).
