It’s hard to believe, but the 2025 high school football regular season is already at the halfway point.
Week 5 brought some amazing individual performances and set up a Week 6 unbeaten showdown between Schuylkill Haven and Williams Valley.
Here’s some notes and tidbits as we look back at Week 5 and look ahead to Week 6:
STILL UNBEATEN: Six Schuylkill-Colonial teams traversed the first half of their schedule unbeaten as Southern Lehigh, Northwestern Lehigh, Notre Dame-Green Pond, Marian, Schuylkill Haven and Williams Valley are all 5-0. Palisades suffered its first loss of the season Saturday, falling 38-21 at Pen Argyl.
STILL WINLESS: Four Schuylkill-Colonial squads remain in search of their first victory — Bangor, Wilson Area, Mahanoy Area and Shenandoah Valley.
Is it possible that Mahanoy Area and Shenandoah Valley reach the Week 10 Damato-Szematovicz rivalry game both 0-9? It’s a good possibility.
DIVISION RACES: Pen Argyl’s victory over Palisades leaves Notre Dame-Green Pond (3-0) as the only unbeaten in White Division play. Both the Green Knights and Pirates are 3-1 in league play.
In the Red Division, Southern Lehigh (4-0) leads Northwestern Lehigh (3-0) by one-half game. In the Blue Division, Marian (4-0), Schuylkill Haven (4-0) and Williams Valley (4-0) are still perfect in league play.
