If you’re a Schuylkill League soccer fan, Thursday was a night to celebrate.

Five Schuylkill League soccer teams — the Minersville, Schuylkill Haven and Blue Mountain girls, and the Minersville and Tri-Valley boys — punched their tickets to their respective District 11 championship games with semifinal victories.

In the girls’ Class A semifinals, Minersville downed Tri-Valley 4-1 and Schuylkill Haven edged Moravian Academy 3-2. In the boys’ Class A semifinals, Minersville topped Schuylkill Haven 5-1 and Tri-Valley downed Salem Christian 2-1 in two overtimes.

The Schuylkill League champion Blue Mountain girls provided the perfect capper with a 4-0 win over Lehighton.

Thursday’s victories set up four District 11 championship games involving Schuylkill League teams, all of which will be Wednesday. Sites and times for those contests will be released Friday.

Here’s a roundup of Thursday’s District 11 soccer action:

Class A Boys

Minersville 5, Schuylkill Haven 1

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Jordan Bowers scored three goals as the Miners used a big second half to pull away from the Hurricanes at North Schuylkill’s Ghosh Orthodontics Field at Spartan Stadium.

Bowers opened the scoring before Landon Bayer tied it for Schuylkill Haven (7-12). Bowers then put Minersville (16-4) ahead again on a penalty kick with 45 seconds left in the first half.

His third goal made it 3-1 early in the second half. Chase Zimerofsky and John Burgess added goals as Minersville advanced to the boys’ district final for the first time since 2020.

Tri-Valley 2, Salem Christian 1

LEHIGHTON — Jude Zimmerman’s goal off an assist by Nathan Hillard in the second overtime lifted the Dawgs past Salem Christian and into the District 11 Class A final for the second straight year.

Salem Christian led 1-0 at intermission before Liam Yourey tied it in the second half off an assist by Garrett Leitzel. The Dawgs outshot Salem 11-4, with Tri-Valley keeper Brayden Leese making three saves.

Tri-Valley (13-7) will face Minersville for the District 11 Class A championship Wednesday at a site and time to be determined.

Class A Girls

Minersville 4, Tri-Valley 1

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Danica Gill scored a pair of goals and Kloee Horoschak had a goal and two assists as the Miners overcame an early deficit to down the Dawgs at North Schuylkill’s Ghosh Orthodontics Field at Spartan Stadium.

Tri-Valley (10-12) opened the scoring with an own goal at 22:12. Horoschak tied it off an assist by Hope Motuk at 35:43 and the teams were knotted at 1-1 at intermission.

Gill’s goal 4:46 into the second half off an assist by Horoschak put the Miners ahead to stay. Motuk’s goal at 50:18 from Jenna Cullen and Gill’s second goal at 68:23 off a feed from Horoschak finished the scoring.

Minersville outshot Tri-Valley 21-4. Tri-Valley’s Sophia Holt had 17 saves, while Bella Rizzardi had three saves in net for the Miners.

Minersville (15-3-2) advances to play Schuylkill Haven in Wednesday’s District 11 Class A championship game.

Schuylkill Haven 3, Moravian Academy 2

LEHIGHTON — Madison Bayer’s second-half goal broke a 2-2 tie and lifted the Hurricanes past defending Class A champion Moravian Academy in a semifinal contest at Lehighton’s Multi-Purpose Stadium.

In a rematch of last year’s Class A district final, won by the Lions 6-0, Schuylkill Haven built a 2-1 halftime lead on goals by Kylie Siket and Audrey Hutchinson.

After Moravian Academy (9-8-1) tied it on a goal by Dubacher, Bayer netted the game-winner to put Schuylkill Haven (15-5-1) in the finals. Ally Becker had eight saves in the cage for Haven.

The Schuylkill League runner-up Hurricanes will face Division II rival Minersville in Wednesday’s Class A title game.

Class 3A girls

Blue Mountain 4, Lehighton 0

SLATINGTON — Lexi Waschko scored a pair of goals and Kelly Canfield had a goal and two assists as the Eagles blanked the Indians at Northern Lehigh’s Bulldog Stadium to return to the Class 3A final for the second straight season.

Waschko opened the scoring with 29:15 left in the first half. Canfield doubled the advantage minutes later with a strike from about 25 yards out and Waschko added her second shortly after to make it 3-0.

“We played really well,” Blue Mountain head coach Matt Kenitzer to Lehighton Times-News writer Pat Matsinko, who provided details of the Eagles’ win to T102 Sports Now.

“They started off very quick, very controlled, and the quality of finishing was awesome. Just getting those three goals right in that short span really got us into our momentum. I think they did a great job controlling the middle, being strong defensively and just moving the ball around. I’m proud of them.”

Blue Mountain (18-3) added its fourth goal midway through the second half when Addie Warke drilled a long shot that snuck under the crossbar and into the corner of the net shortly after a corner kick.

The Eagles will face third-seeded Southern Lehigh, a 4-3 overtime winner over Bangor, in Wednesday’s Class 3A girls’ final. The game will most likely be part of a doubleheader with the Class 3A boys’ final since Blue Mountain and Southern Lehigh square off in that title match as well.

“All through the year we’ve had multiple girls scoring goals,” Kenitzer said. “It’s not just one or two main girls. Their confidence in that finishing ability, especially from farther out, has been building. We have a wide range of quality players, and it’s awesome to watch.”
