HS Swimming Roundup: Pottsville boys hold off North Schuylkill

Bevan’s two wins lift Crimson Tide past Spartans
FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Noah Bevan and Adam Klinger are the unquestioned leaders of the Pottsville boys’ swim team.
Monday, they delivered when the Tide needed them to the most.
Bevan paced a pair of 1-2 finishes and Klinger led a sweep of diving as the Crimson Tide outlasted North Schuylkill 95-76 in a Schuylkill League boys’ swimming dual meet at the Donald Bricker Natatorium.
The Spartans (2-2, 1-2 SL) led 22-19 after three events before Bevan, Killian Bressler and Peter Scharadin went 1-2-4 in the 50-yard freestyle. Klinger, Colin Kline and Spencer Prestileo followed by going 1-2-3 in diving, giving Pottsville a 44-26 lead.
Bevan followed by winning the 100 butterfly, with John Mohl second, as Pottsville (2-1, 2-1) extended its lead to 54-29. The Tide essentially secured the meet when Bressler, Mohl, Jamison Walsh and Bevan won the 200 freestyle relay with Pottsville’s B team taking third.
North Schuylkill would close the meet by winning five of the final six events, but the Tide’s lead was too big to overcome. Owen Mentzer (200 free, 100 back) and Brendan Fetterolf (200 IM, 100 breast) won twice for North Schuylkill, while Fabrizio Mangianello (100 free) and David Luna (500 free) were also victorious.
