HS Girls’ Basketball: Marian head coach steps down

HOMETOWN — Marian Catholic High School announced Tuesday that Jeanette Barron has resigned as head girls’ basketball coach due to personal reasons, effective today.
Former Fillies assistant coach Jeff Onushco will be the school’s interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
Marian Catholic officials said in a statement that they are grateful to Coach Barron for stepping up to the position and for the time and effort she has contributed to the Fillies’ basketball program. She will continue to be a valued member of the Marian community in her role as a social studies teacher.
Additionally, Tuesday night’s girls’ game against Lourdes has been postponed until Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 6 p.m. at Marian.
Marian has a 2-3 overall record this season, 2-1 in Division II of the Schuylkill League. The Fillies have defeated Weatherly and Nativity while falling to Wilkes-Barre Area, Lake-Lehman and Mahanoy Area.
