HS Boys’ Basketball: North Schuylkill pulls away late; Pine Grove, Blue Mountain, Pottsville earn Saturday wins

SHENANDOAH — Julian Nelson imposed his will late as North Schuylkill closed strong to outlast Shenandoah Valley in a fast-paced non-league showdown Saturday.
Nelson poured in a game-high 21 points and scored nine of them in the fourth quarter as the Spartans used a decisive late surge to pull away. North Schuylkill led by just five entering the final frame before opening with an aggressive defensive push that fueled transition baskets and forced Shenandoah Valley into rushed possessions.
Cam Kacilowicz added 13 points, while Jude Maziekas and Caden Mengel chipped in eight apiece as the Spartans showcased balance and composure down the stretch.
North Schuylkill finished the night shooting 9-of-13 from the foul line and held Shenandoah Valley to just 19 points in the second half.
Shenandoah Valley was paced by Alex Rivera with 19 points, while Ethan Bench added 12 and David Burrous scored nine.
The Blue Devils stayed within striking distance throughout, trimming the deficit to four late in the fourth, but Nelson’s ability to finish through contact and control tempo sealed it.

Hannevig poured in a game-high 24 points, while Felty added 23 as the Cardinals seized control in the second half.
Williams Valley was led by Gabe Rodriguez’s 25 points, with Evan Achenbach finishing in double figures as well.

The Eagles built a commanding lead in the opening quarter and continued to stretch the margin behind steady production across the lineup. Tyierre Meade scored 16 points, while Cohen Kirby added a team-high 18. CohenWerner chipped in 12, and Blue Mountain’s pressure defense limited Northern Lebanon to single digits in two quarters.
Before tipoff, Blue Mountain honored Meade for surpassing 1,000 career points, a milestone moment that set the stage for another strong showing as the Eagles cruised to the win.
