TAMAQUA — Jalissa Correa (124) earned a pair of wins by fall for Tamaqua, but the Blue Raiders fell to Pleasant Valley (42-18) and Lehighton (55-12) on Friday in a non-league girls’ wrestling tri-meet.

Kiely Kunkel (112) posted a pin and a win by forfeit for Tamaqua (0-6).

Cards place 6th after Day 1

at North Allegheny

WEXFORD — Kiersen Echternach (100), Autumn Martin (118), Samantha Eisenhauer (124), Geanna Lemke (142) and Rieleigh Purcell (190) advanced to the quarterfinals for Pine Grove on Day 1 of the North Allegheny Invitational Girls’ Wrestling Tournament.

Renee Eisenhauer (130), Eliza Kurtz (136), Taylor Bast (136), Violet Krill (155) and Audrey Graeff (235) remained alive in the consolations for the Cardinals.

Those performances helped Pine Grove rank sixth with 42 points after the first day. Cumberland Valley leads the 36-team field with 71 points. Dallastown (60) is second; North Allegheny (50) and Shaler (50) are tied for third; and Northampton (42.5) rounds out the top five.

The tournament concludes Saturday.
