HS Hoops Roundup: Lourdes clinches D-II, Tamaqua grabs berth, Marian tops WV

tempimagedoowlj

Sophia Karlovich, Lourdes girls' basketball

The Schuylkill League girls’ basketball playoff picture sorted itself out a little bit Thursday night.

In Division I, Schuylkill Haven clinched a tie for the division crown with a 47-37 win over North Schuylkill (see related story: https://www.t102sportsnow.com/2026/01/30/hs-girls-bb-hutchinson-shines-on-senior-night-as-haven-knocks-off-north-schuylkill/). The Hurricanes (16-4, 11-1) can wrap up their first-ever Schuylkill League division title with a win either Saturday against Panther Valley or Monday at Pine Grove.

Tamaqua (14-5, 9-3) clinched the third Division I playoff berth with a 45-35 win over Panther Valley. The Blue Raiders can move up to the No. 2 seed with a win Monday at North Schuylkill (12-6, 10-3).

In Division II, Lourdes clinched the division crown and a quarterfinal bye in the league playoffs with a 55-38 win over Mahanoy Area. It’s the first Schuylkill League division title for the Red Raiders (18-1, 13-0) since 2019.

Despite the loss, Mahanoy Area (15-5, 10-2) is locked into the No. 2 seed from Division II. The No. 3 seed … that’s still a murky picture.

Marian (11-9, 8-5) took a major step toward that berth with a 39-31 win over Williams Valley (13-6, 6-6). Shenandoah Valley (11-9, 7-5) stayed in the hunt with a 51-9 rout of Nativity.

Shenandoah Valley faces Mahanoy Area on Sunday, then visits Marian on Monday. Williams Valley has league games remaining with Nativity and Weatherly. Stay tuned.
