Spartans, Miners, Panthers score girls’ wins; Eagle, Spartan boys victorious
PINE GROVE — Kam Heming scored a game-high 11 points to lift Pine Grove to a 33-26 victory over Pottsville in the Schuylkill League Division I finale for both teams Wednesday.
The Cardinals took control in the second quarter, using a 10-1 run to build a 17-10 halftime lead. Hollyn Sampson added nine for Pine Grove, which snapped a three-game losing streak.
Lauren Brennan hit three 3-pointers and scored 10 points to lead Pottsville. Six of the Tide’s seven field goals were 3-pointers.

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Mya Conti lit up the scoreboard for 30 points as the Spartans rolled past Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter in a non-league game at the Cesari-Hope Gymnasium.
Conti had 15 of her points in the first quarter as North Schuylkill raced out to a 23-4 lead after one frame. She added nine more in the second period as the Spartans built a 45-14 halftime lead.
Gianna Capone added 11 points for North Schuylkill, which made nine 3-pointers.

HEGINS — Jenna Cullen went 13-for-14 from the foul line and scored a game-high 23 points as the Miners outlasted the Dawgs in a non-league game.
Alayna Boom added 14 points for Minersville, which overcame an early 10-4 deficit, then pulled away with a 25-6 run in the fourth quarter. The Miners connected on five of their eight 3-pointers in the fourth period.
Avery Miller had 22 points for Tri-Valley, while Ava Snyder recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Minersville finishes its season at 5-17. Tri-Valley concludes its season with a home non-league tonight against Upper Dauphin.

LANSFORD — Morgan Orsulak’s final game at Panther Valley was one to remember as the senior poured in 25 points and collected 12 rebounds to lift the Panthers past Class 6A Pocono Mountain West in a non-league game.
Orsulak had eight points in the fourth quarter as Panther Valley closed the game on a 20-7 run after trailing 42-35 entering the fourth. Ajete Gjoca had seven of her 10 points in the run, including a 4-for-4 effort at the foul line.
Panther Valley finishes its season at 7-15.

ORWIGSBURG — The Eagles tuned up for Saturday’s Schuylkill League quarterfinals by capturing their sixth straight victory, blowing past ELCO in a non-league game.
Tyeirre Meade paced Blue Mountain with 24 points, scoring 18 in the first half as the Eagles built a 38-19 halftime lead. Cohen Werner then sparked a 25-7 run in the third frame with 11 of his 15 points as Blue Mountain pulled away.
The Eagles face Schuylkill Haven in the fourth game Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Martz Hall.

North Schuylkill 62, Milton 34
MILTON — Jude Maziekas drained four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 16 points as the Spartans closed the regular season with an easy road victory over the winless Black Panthers.
Julian Nelson added 14 points for North Schuylkill, which led 20-8 after one frame and 33-16 at intermission.
The Spartans will now sit and wait to play in the District 11 Class 4A playoffs.
