HS Swimming: Schuylkill League Top Times List, Feb. 4

As expected, the Schuylkill League Swimming Championships produced a bevy of fast times Saturday at Pottsville’s Ned Hampford Natatorium.
Counting the superb diving performances by Blue Mountain’s Hailey Scheuer and Pottsville’s Adam Klinger, there were season-best times posted in seven girls’ events and four boys’ events at the league meet.
Those season bests include all three Tamaqua girls’ relays, Scheuer, Tamaqua’s Shaylee Gormley in the 50 freestyle and Mahanoy Area’s Lily Brown in the 500 freestyle. On the boys’ side, Klinger, the Blue Mountain 200 freestyle relay, Marian’s Michael Strucko with a record-breaking swim in the 100 backstroke and Schuylkill Haven’s Ethan Miller in the 100 breaststroke.
There were also four top times set this week outside of the Schuylkill League meet, with the Blue Mountain’s 400 freestyle relay of Aidan Varney, Porter Sarnes, Gabe Kamarousky and Brody Moyer setting a new league record in 3:22.10 in their win over Tamaqua last Thursday.
