Oh baby — is there any better time of year?
There will be big shots, close games and championship moments during the Schuylkill League Basketball Playoff Tournaments, but the loudest competition may not be on the court.
This postseason, T102 Sports Now, WPPA Sports Saturday and Skook News are teaming up to crown the Best Student Section in the Schuylkill League.
Judges will be watching every game, looking for student sections that bring:
-
– Size and participation
-
– Loud, coordinated energy
-
– Original chants and creative themes
-
– Strong school spirit and pride
-
– Positive support that elevates the game atmosphere
Creativity is encouraged. Sportsmanship is required. Family-friendly behavior is mandatory. The goal is to hype your team — not tear anyone else down.

Student sections create memories you never forget.
Whether it’s over-the-top costumes and themes, chants in perfect unison, battle cries echoing through the gym, or whatever creative ingenuity emerges over the next week, some moments last a lifetime. Fans still talk about ESPN-style skits, food or animal-themed costumes, or that one year North Schuylkill went full Bills Mafia.
Be creative. Be loud. Just know where the line is.
There is also a bonus opportunity for schools that are eliminated or not playing. Students are welcome to attend and support other Schuylkill League teams. Bigger crowds and louder gyms only add to the tournament atmosphere.
Photos and videos will be posted throughout the playoffs, and when the tournament concludes, one school will earn the title of 2026 Schuylkill League Student Section Champions. New this year, the winning school will receive a custom trophy created by Delrose Awards.
The winner will be announced on A-106 105.9 FM WPPA Sports Saturday at 9 a.m. the morning following the championships with myself, Ed Beneshunas, Joey Shemo and guests Ty Wartman (T-102 Basketball color commentator) and Justin Reed, founder of Skook News.
