TAMAQUA — Dylan Garcia (215) earned a decision in the final contested bout to lift Tamaqua to a 39-30 victory over Executive Education Academy Charter on Thursday in a non-league boys’ wrestling dual meet.
Garcia defeated Jaden Tatis 10-3 in the next-to-last weight, giving the Blue Raiders (2-15) a 33-30 lead. William Behun (285) received a forfeit at the final weight to clinch Tamaqua’s win.
Two forfeits and Jayvian Hernandez’s pin at 121 pounds gave Executive Education (2-8) an 18-6 lead after four bouts. Tamaqua’s points came from Rylan Reitz’s 58-second fall over Richard Camilo at 114.
Tamaqua answered when Brody Schlier (139) pinned Matthew Ramos in 4:35 and Francis Hill (145) received a forfeit to tie the dual at 18.
DeMarcus Shaw (152) put the Raptors back on top with a fall, but Tamaqua’s Troy Hartman (160) and Jonathan Knepper (172) scored back-to-back pins for the Blue Raiders. Hartman stuck Tavares Velazquez in 5:15, and Knepper decked Javon Alvin in 1:53.
Aldo Gomez’s forfeit win at 189 tied the dual again at 30.
Garcia then posted his decision to put Tamaqua ahead to stay.
