HS Softball: Spartans rout Shamokin

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Lyza Holmes went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored to power North Schuylkill to a 12-1 victory over Shamokin Area on Monday in a non-league game at Dot Seidel Field.
Peyton Miscannon went the distance in the circle for the Spartans (3-0). She hurled five innings, allowing two hits and one run (zero earned) while striking out seven and walking one.
Gianna Capone added a 2-for-3 day with a double and three RBIs for North Schuylkill, which broke the game open with five-run outbursts in the fourth and fifth innings.
Brigid Flynn added a single, three runs scored and two stolen bases for the winners. Monica Selgrade contributed two runs scored, two RBIs and two stolen bases.
