Shenandoah Valley rallies late; Haven, Marian, Pine Grove roll; Minersville, Tri-Valley add wins
SHENANDOAH — With one swing, Shenandoah Valley flipped the script.
The Blue Devils rallied in their final at-bat to edge Williams Valley 3-2 in a Division II contest Thursday.
Trailing entering the bottom of the seventh inning, Shenandoah Valley mounted its comeback after the Vikings had taken a 2-1 lead in the top half of the inning.
Chase McCole delivered the decisive blow, connecting with a two-run double to cap the rally and send the Blue Devils off with a walk-off win.
Shenandoah Valley struck first in the opening inning on a groundout by Jostin Lajara, but Williams Valley gradually worked its way back into the game. The Vikings tied it in the sixth and took the lead in the seventh on a clutch hit from Cam Berger.
McCole was strong on the mound as well, tossing 6.1 innings while allowing two runs and striking out eight to keep the Blue Devils within striking distance. Ethan Bench earned the win in relief, closing out the game after the late rally.
McCole led Shenandoah Valley at the plate with two hits and two RBIs, while Gene Sinkus also collected two hits.
Williams Valley managed just two hits in the game, coming from Cole Hubler and Berger.

Tri-Valley 9, Panther Valley 1
LANSFORD — Tri-Valley turned a close game into a comfortable win and defeated Panther Valley in a Division I contest.
The Dawgs cracked a 1-1 tie with three runs in the fifth and added to the lead late to pull away. The teams also met this past Saturday, with Tri-Valley winning 9-0 in the opening round of the annual Russ Rothermel Memorial Tournament at Minersville. That was a non-league contest, while the teams still meet again later in the season for their second league head-to-head.
Peyton Schley earned the win in relief, allowing one hit and one run over four innings while striking out eight.
The Dawgs finished with 10 hits, led by Jason Stewart with three. Owen Miller and Stewart each drove in two runs, while Schley and Braeden Doyle added multiple hits.
Panther Valley was limited to one hit, with Gavin Yuricheck accounting for it.

Minersville 8, Nativity 3
MINERSVILLE — Minersville used a big sixth inning to break open a tight game and defeat Nativity in a Division II ballgame.
The Battlin’ Miners scored twice in the first before the Hilltoppers tied the game in the sixth. Minersville answered in the bottom half with five runs to take control.
Nolan Plesnarski earned the win, allowing three runs over six innings while striking out six. He also led the offense with three hits. Garrett Sukeena added two hits, while Jason Correll and Jayce Rizzardi each drove in two runs.
Nativity finished with five hits, with Ryan Grabowski collecting two. Trey Keating and Stephen Karinch each doubled.

PINE GROVE — Wyatt Snyder powered Pine Grove on the mound and at the plate in an five-inning win over Tamaqua in a Division I matchup.
Snyder, a senior right-hander, struck out 11 over five innings and also homered to spark the offense as the Cardinals built an early lead.
Quincy Allen led the offense with two hits and three RBIs, while Pine Grove finished with four hits and capitalized on errors and hit-by-pitches. Dane Hannevig added a triple.
Tamaqua collected five hits, with Landon Kamant and Gavin Edmonds each recording two.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Schuylkill Haven sent 23 batters to the plate in the first inning and rolled past Mahanoy Area in three innings in a Division II ballgame.
Chase Yoder earned the win, allowing no hits over two innings of work on the hill. Landon Trostle added a scoreless inning in relief.
Schuylkill Haven finished with 10 hits, with Yoder and Alan Evans collecting two apiece. Trostle and Michael Terefencko each drove in three runs.
Mahanoy Area’s lone hit came from Damian Contreras.

WEATHERLY — Marian’s bats erupted as the Colts steamrolled by Weatherly 23-0 in three innings in a Division II contest.
Marian scored six runs in the first inning, seven in the second and 10 more in the third to put the game away.
The Colts tallied 17 hits, led by Chase Grier with three and five RBIs. Roman Bednarek, Cole Defrancisco, Chase Quinn-Gutsie and Brayden Grant each added multiple hits.
Weatherly was limited to two hits, with Niko Suarez and Eli Brown accounting for them.
