HS Baseball: Minersville rolls, Pottsville falls in slugfest

MINERSVILLE — Minersville answered early pressure with a breakout inning and never looked back.
The Battlin’ Miners broke things open early and cruised past Mahanoy Area 12-2 in five innings in a Schuylkill League Division II baseball game Friday at Del Hauck Field.
The Miners answered an early deficit with a run in the first before erupting for eight runs in the third to take control.
Nolan Plesnarski led the offense with three hits, including a double, while Jayce Rizzardi, Jason Correll and Aidan Ryan each added a hit.
Cam Rogers earned the win, allowing two runs over four innings, while Luke Toth added a scoreless inning in relief.
Mahanoy Area finished with three hits, with Derek Alvarado, Colby Wagner and Ryan Zilker each collecting one.

WILKES BARRE — Wilkes-Barre pulled away late to defeat Pottsville in a back-and-forth non-league contest.
The Crimson Tide held multiple leads, including a 6-4 advantage in the fourth inning, before the Wolfpack answered with a big bottom half and continued to build on it.
Pottsville finished with nine hits, with Brody Hess, Dom Rynard, Max Clews and Landon Trout each collecting two. Hess drove in three runs, while Clews and Hess each doubled.
