HS Softball: Minersville slams Selinsgrove

MINERSVILLE — Sara McGrath, Eila O’Brien, Paige Laudeman and Rilynn Brennan rapped three hits apiece as Minersville clubbed Selinsgrove 17-5 in five innings in a non-league softball game Saturday at Ken Schneck Field.
The Miners scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 10-2 lead. Minersville pushed its advantage to 17-4 after three innings and cruised to its third straight victory. The Miners finished with 18 hits.
Paige Laudeman went 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored, while Brennan added a 3-for-3 day with two runs and one RBI. McGrath had a 3-for-4 day with a triple, three runs and two RBIs; O’Brien went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.


Eight Miners contributed at least one hit. They included Grace Sterner, 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI; Bella Rizzardi, a double, three RBIs and a run scored; Bella Cruz, 2-for-4 with two runs; and Calleigh Tripp, a triple, two runs and three RBIs.
O’Brien pitched the first four innings to earn the win in the circle. Cali Laudeman hurled the fifth inning.

WHITEHALL — Jamie Dinger pitched a three-hit shutout to lead Pine Grove past Whitehall in a non-league battle of unbeatens.
Dinger hurled seven innings, striking out 10 and walking one.
She got plenty of support from her offense as the Cardinals banged out 16 hits. They led 5-0 after two innings and capped the game with a seven-run seventh.



Callee Leffler sparked the offense at the top of the lineup, going 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, four runs scored and three RBIs.
Meadow Umbenhauer went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored; Lily Flynn added a 3-for-5 day with three RBIs and a run scored.
Other top hitters for Pine Grove included Hannah Aungst, a single, three RBIs and a run scored; Tailyn Bohr, 2-for-5; and Chelcy Clark, 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
