HS Softball: Marian cruises to shutout win over Lourdes

MOUNT CARMEL — Emily Upanavage had a big day in the circle and at the plate to lead Marian past Lourdes 18-0 in four innings Monday in a non-league softball game at Mount Carmel Area High School.
Upanavage tossed a two-hit shutout, striking out seven and walking two. She also went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored.
DeAnna Pugh also powered the Fillies’ offense, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and three RBIs. Katie Knock went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored as Marian jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings.
Other top hitters for the Fillies included Gracie Sendatch, 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI; and Hailey Treskolasky, one single and four runs scored.
Arianna Adams went 2-for-2 with a double for the Red Raiders.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Kaitlyn Russo had two singles and a stolen base for Schuylkill Haven, but the Hurricanes fell to Kutztown in a non-league game.
Danica Snyder added a single and an RBI for Schuylkill Haven.
Alli Scherer went the distance in the circle for the Hurricanes. She allowed three earned runs while striking out 10 and walking two.
Felicia Oldt and Savannah Follweiler had identical lines for Kutztown — 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs apiece.
