Tamaqua, Panther Valley add non-league wins

POTTSVILLE — Hailey Mroczka belted four hits to power Mahanoy Area past Nativity 19-1 on Wednesday in a non-league softball game atop Lawton’s Hill.

Mroczka finished 4-for-4 with an RBI triple, a three-run home run, five RBIs and four runs scored for the Golden Bears. Cadance Poslosky went 3-for-4 with a triple, four runs and one RBI, while Allison Killian posted a 3-for-4 day with a double, three RBIs and a run scored.

Mahanoy Area broke the game open with a 12-run second inning.

Naomi Kowalick singled, knocked in three runs and scored three runs for the Bears.

Kyra Krapf went 2-for-2 with an RBI for Nativity.

Tamaqua 13, Marian 3

TAMAQUA — Nico Conahan laced three hits to lead a balanced attack in Tamaqua’s non-league victory over Marian.

Conahan went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs for the Blue Raiders, who scored in each of the four innings in which they batted.

Five players had at least two hits for Tamaqua. Included were Paige Bumbulsky, 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored; Peyton Faust, 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored; Molly Evans, 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs; and Mia Bamford, 2-for-3 with a run scored. Ceanna Gormley added a single, three runs and one RBI.

Malina Letcher went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Fillies.

Winning pitcher Naomi Knitter struck out eight in her five innings of work.

Panther Valley 20, Executive Education 4 

ALLENTOWN — Winning pitcher Ava Alabovitz helped herself with a big day at the plate as Panther Valley routed Executive Education Academy in a non-league game at Patriots Park.

Alabovitz finished 3-for-4 with a double, five RBIs and two runs scored for the Panthers, who broke loose in an 11-run second inning.

Panther Valley racked up 16 hits in four innings. Janessa Prudente homered, scored three runs and drove in two. Other top hitters for the Panthers included Caroline Breslin, 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI; Danika Blazosky, 2-for-2 with three runs scored; Isabella D’Ancona, 2-for-2 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs; and Jovie Breiner, 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored.

LEESPORT — Ella Martin went 3-for-4 with two runs scored as Schuylkill Valley rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Schuylkill Haven in a non-league contest.

Winning pitcher Adalynn Casper struck out 11 in a complete-game effort.

Alli Scherer struck out nine for the Hurricanes.

Aisley Jenan went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two stolen bases for Schuylkill Haven. Joie Schoffstall doubled and scored a run, while Danica Snyder doubled and drove in a run.
