Breakout sophomore seasons earned Schuylkill Haven’s Mckenna Runkle and Lourdes’ Hannah Lokitis All-State honors a year ago.

Dominant junior campaigns moved the pair one rung up the All-State ladder this year.

Runkle and Lokitis were honored Tuesday by being named to the 2025-26 Pennsylvania Sports Writers All-State Girls’ Basketball Team. Both were named to the second team in their respective classifications — Runkle in Class 3A and Lokitis in Class A.

The Pennsylvania Sports Writers All-State Girls’ Basketball Team is selected through nominations and voting done by sports writers from across Pennsylvania, including T102 Sports Now. Three teams of five players and a Coach of the Year are chosen in each classification, with the top vote-getter being named Player of the Year.

In Class 3A, Runkle finished in the top 10 of a loaded division that features five Division I recruits on the senior-laden first team — Player of the Year and Richmond recruit Erica Gribble of Greensburg Central Catholic; Maryland recruit Oumuo “Mimi” Thiero of Quaker Valley; Arizona recruit Makayla Presser-Palmer of Northwestern; Bucknell-bound Alaina Dadzie of Loyalsock; and Purdue-Fort Wayne recruit Karis Thomas of Shady Side Academy.

A 5-foot-8 junior forward, Runkle scored 468 points (15.6 points per game) and averaged more than 10 rebounds per game in leading Schuylkill Haven to a 24-6 overall record, a second straight Schuylkill League championship and the program’s first trip to the PIAA state quarterfinals since 1985.

Runkle stepped up her game in the postseason, averaging 16 points per game over eight playoff games. She had 32 points in the first round of the state playoffs against MaST Community Charter, scoring her 1,000th career point. She added 23 points in a second-round win over Pequea Valley.

The Schuylkill League Division I Player of the Year as selected by the league’s coaches, Runkle enters her senior season with 1,074 career points.

Runkle is joined on the Class 3A second team by Hughesville junior Maddie Smith, Pequea Valley senior Janae Patterson, Holy Redeemer senior McKenzie Chimock and Eisenhower senior Clara Steinberg.

Standing 6-1, Lokitis has literally been at the center of Lourdes’ back-to-back runs to the PIAA Class A state semifinals over the past two seasons.

This season, Lokitis averaged 11.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game in leading the Red Raiders to a 28-3 record that included a Schuylkill League Division II title, a Schuylkill League runner-up finish and the program’s second straight and 16th overall District 4 Class A crown.

A force in the middle, Lokitis compiled 74 assists, 93 steals and 115 blocked shots, helping Lourdes hold their opponents to just 16 points per game over the course of the season. She closed the season with five double-doubles in nine postseason games, including 12 points and 17 rebounds in a state semifinal loss to eventual state champion Delco Christian.

Senior Naomi Crispin of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy was selected as the Class A Player of the Year. She is joined on the first team by Delco Christian freshman Dominique Good, Geibel Catholic senior Emma Larkin, Williamsburg junior Levada Gorsuch and Bishop Guilfoyle junior Morgan Ruggery.

Lokitis is joined on the second team by New Covenant Christian junior Qynne Demler, Williamsburg senior LeeAnna Royer, Serra Catholic sophomore Bella Dumbroski and North Penn-Liberty senior Haley Litzelman.
