HS Boys’ Tennis: Blue Mountain team advances to District 11 Doubles semifinals

BETHLEHEM — Blue Mountain’s Evan Burcik and Evan Bixler won a pair of matches Tuesday at Lehigh University to advance to the semifinals of the District 11 Class AA Doubles Tournament.
Seeded second, Burcik and Bixler opened with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Allentown Central Catholic’s James Raynock and Gavin Sohaney. In the quarterfinals, Burcik and Bixler swept past No. 7 seeds Liam Maloney and Derrick Hartman of Bethlehem Catholic 6-3, 6-0.


In Thursday’s semifinals back at Lehigh, Burcik and Bixler will take on the No. 6 seeds, Bekim Cokrilja and Jed Cordes of Lehighton. The finals will also be Thursday afternoon at Lehigh.
Blue Mountain’s other team, No. 8 seeds Elias Eichert and Camren Watters, reached the quarterfinals before bowing out.
In the round of 16, Eichert and Watters topped Caden Ryan and Layne Liberg of Palisades 6-1, 6-1. No. 1 seeds Adam Koscielniak and Oscar Woods of Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg defeated Eichert and Watters 6-2, 6-0 in the quarterfinals.
