LEESPORT — Dom Rynard provided an early spark, but Pottsville couldn’t hold off Schuylkill Valley.
Dom Rynard launched a three-run homer in the first inning, but Schuylkill Valley answered immediately and went on to defeat Pottsville 5-4 in a non-league game on the road Friday.
The Crimson Tide jumped out quickly behind Dom Rynard’s blast, only to see Schuylkill Valley respond with three runs of its own in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by a triple from Salinger Kehs-Rossi. Pottsville briefly regained the lead in the second on a sacrifice fly from Landon Trout, but the Panthers continued to chip away, tying the game again in the fourth before pushing across the decisive run in the sixth.
Pottsville finished with eight hits, getting two apiece from Andrew Allen and Trout, while Harrison Ciavarella, Nick Rynard and Christian Alvarez added to the attack. Despite the offensive output, the Tide couldn’t create separation and were hurt by a few defensive miscues along the way.
Nick Rynard started on the mound, with Tommy Welsh taking the loss in relief. Schuylkill Valley managed just three hits but capitalized on key moments to come away with the win.
