HS Baseball Roundup: Kruslicky’s clutch hit lifts Panthers in extras; Blue Devils, Golden Bears roll in non-league action

MINERSVILLE — Seven innings wasn’t enough for the Panthers and Battlin’ Miners on Monday.
Peter Kruslicky knocked in two runs in the top of the eighth inning as Panther Valley downed Minersville 5-3 in extras in the consolation game of the annual Russ Rothermel Tournament at Del Hauck Field.
Tied 3-3 going to the top of the eighth, Carson Jones singled to lead off the frame, while Dylan Lazar and Gabe Perilli each drew walks to load the bases for Kruslicky. With two outs, Kruslicky singled to right field and drove in Jones and Lazar to give the Panthers a duo of go-ahead runs. Jones finished with a pair of hits, Perilli added a double and Danny Wehr chipped in two base knocks for Panther Valley.
Wehr pitched 5.1 innings, struck out eight and allowed two runs. Perilli and Gavin Yuricheck took over in relief, Yuricheck earned the win.
For the Battlin’ Miners, Justin Cutler collected two doubles and drove in all three runs. Garrett Sukeena went 3-for-4 with a run scored, while Nolan Plesnarski worked six innings on the hill and struck out eight.

BLOOMSBURG — Chase McCole had a trio of hits as Shenandoah Valley rolled past Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech in non-league action.
McCole collected two doubles, a singled three RBIs as part of a 10-hit attack for the Blue Devils. McCole also pitched six scoreless innings and struck out nine, before giving way to Ethan Bench in the combined shutout.
Dylan Getz added two singles and a pair of RBIs for Shenandoah Valley.

MAHANOY CITY — Mike Gambone, Corbin Wagner and Brody Noraka each knocked in two runs as Mahanoy Area romped Notre Dame East Stroudsburg in a non-league contest.
Owen Ogrodnick went 3-for-4 at the plate, scored two runs and added an RBI for the Golden Bears, who led 4-0 at the end of the second inning.
Mahanoy Area continued too stack runs and added a six-spot in the fourth to extend the lead to 10-0. Noraka struck out the side as the starter in his one inning of work before Ryan Zilker
