HS Girls’ Wrestling: PV’s Banks captures title, earns 100th win

DOYLESTOWN — Panther Valley’s Brenda Banks reached yet another milestone Saturday at the Battle for the Buck Girls’ Varsity Wrestling Tournament at Central Bucks West High School.
Banks, a senior 235-pounder and three-time state champion, scored three victories to capture her weight class. In the process, she recorded the 100th victory of her career. She’s the first Schuylkill League girls’ wrestler to reach the century mark.
Banks improved her record to 27-0 this season and 100-2 for her career.
To reach the finals, Banks posted falls of 20 and 18 seconds. In the gold-medal bout, Banks decked Council Rock South’s Makenzie O’Donnell in 57 seconds.

Panther Valley senior teammate Alisa Williams struck gold at 170 pounds. In the finals, Williams (26-4) shut out Harry S Truman’s Jada Akins 6-0.
Anelia Bennick (155) placed fifth, and Ashley Williams (148) took eighth for the Panthers.
Panther Valley finished 13th in the 32-team field. Neshaminy won the team title with 153.5 points. Owen J. Roberts placed second with 130.5, and Upper Merion finished third with 125.

WEXFORD — Geanna Lemke (142) placed third to lead Pine Grove at the North Allegheny Invitational Girls’ Wrestling Tournament.
