HS Boys’ Wrestling: Tide’s McFarland wins William Tennent title, OW

WARMINSTER — Pottsville’s Terrell McFarland turned in another dominant performance to earn the 189-pound championship Saturday at the Panther Invitational, hosted by William Tennent High School.
In the 15-team field, McFarland racked up three pins to make the finals. There, he defeated Germantown Academy’s Jack Breme by technical fall 21-5 in 3:20. For his efforts, McFarland (36-0) received the tournament’s Outstanding Wrestler Award.

As a team, the Crimson Tide had eight wrestlers become placewinners, lifting Pottsville to a fifth-place finish in the team standings. Central Bucks East won the team title with 241.5 points. Norristown took second with 153. Germantown Academy (140), Harry S Truman (138.5) and Pottsville (134.5) rounded out the top five.
Cole Cook (114) also made the finals for the Tide. After two falls, Cook dropped a 1-0 decision to Germantown Academy’s Aidan Lee.
Kaiden Renn went 3-1 to place third at 172 for Pottsville, while teammates Cole Daubert (127), Colin Kline (145) and Jacoby Hay (215) finished fourth. Silas Smith (133) added a seventh and Corbin Evans (152) took eighth for the Tide.
Dixon posts 100th victory
ALLENTOWN — Marian junior Rory Dixon, who wrestles in a co-op at Mahanoy Area, earned his 100th career victory during the Falcon Duals at Salisbury High School.
Dixon went 6-0 on the day, raising his season record to 41-4 and his career mark to 101-22. He had two pins and two technical falls among his wins Saturday.


Dixon (152), Stanley Boris (189) and Kyler Quick (215) all went 6-0 to help the Golden Bears win 5-of-6 dual meets. Mahanoy Area defeated Northern Lehigh (37-29), Twin Valley (41-33), Archbishop Wood (45-26), Howard Tech, Delaware (38-28) and Palisades (62-12). Selinsgrove topped the Bears 53-22.
Quick, who notched his 100th win earlier this season, had three pins and a 7-1 decision over Palisades’ Silas Day among his six victories. Quick improved to 40-3 on the season.
Boris had a big day as well, scoring two pins and three technical falls to produce key bonus points. In his other match, Boris (31-14) defeated Northern Lehigh’s Conner Arrigo 4-1 in sudden victory to help swing the dual Mahanoy Area’s way.
Colton King (121), Nick Manley (127) and Ben Lagaza (285) had 4-2 records on the day for the Bears (11-6).
