COVE — Upper Dauphin sophomore Chloe Ratcliffe pinned her way to a gold medal Friday at the District 3 Section IV Girls’ Wrestling Championships at Susquenita High School.

Nobody made it out of the first period against Ratcliffe, who scored falls in 1:23, 1:05 and 1:26 to capture the 190-pound title. In the finals, Ratcliffe decked Central Dauphin East’s Arshley Coulange in 86 seconds. Ratcliff raised her record to 23-3.

The sectional serves as the first postseason qualifier. The top four placewinners in each weight class advanced to the District 3 Girls’ Southcentral Regional Championships, set for Saturday, Feb. 28, at Manheim Township High School. The top four placewinners from each sectional will gather to form a 16-girl bracket. The top four placers in each weight class at regionals will qualify for the PIAA Championships on March 5-7 at the Giant Center in Hershey.

Two other Upper Dauphin wrestlers — juniors Jada Dillard (124) and Kristen Rosado (148) earned trips to regionals.

Dillard (24-8) posted two pins to make the finals but had to settle for silver. Susquenita’s Kaylee Dayhoff downed Dillard by major decision, 14-1, for the gold.

In the semifinals, Dillard trailed Northern York’s Sequoia Murray, the top seed, 6-2 after the first period. Dillard responded with a takedown in the second period and pinned Murray in 2:45.

Rosado (17-11) took a fourth but still advanced. Biglerville’s Emily Seiler pinned Rosado in 4:35 during a bronze-medal bout.

In all, Upper Dauphin placed seven wrestlers at the 19-team sectional. That depth helped the Trojans finish sixth in the team standings with 114.5 points. Gettysburg crowned four champs and won the team title with 177.5 points. Northern York finished second with 165.5. Camp Hill (136), Hempfield (131) and ELCO (122.5) rounded out the top five.

Sophomore Jenna Teeter (118) and senior Jacelyn Henninger (136) placed fifth, while senior Cambrie Herb (100) and freshman Isabella Latshaw (155) finished sixth for UDA.

Herb hails from Tri-Valley, which has a co-op with Upper Dauphin in girls’ wrestling. Herb went 3-3 at the sectional, notching two pins in the consolations to earn a medal. She medically forfeited to Newport’s Madison Kell in a fifth-place match.

Herb finished the season with an 18-11 record.
