HEGINS — Jack Wehry set the tone at the plate.
Peyton Schley was dialed in on the mound.
And Tri-Valley took care of the rest.
Wehry delivered a perfect day at the plate with three hits as the Dawgs rolled past Nativity 8-1 in a non-league contest Wednesday at Tri-Valley.
Tri-Valley jumped out early, capitalizing on a Nativity error and a fielder’s choice to take a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Dawgs never trailed from there, steadily adding on while keeping the Hilltoppers in check.
Nativity briefly cut into the deficit in the second inning on an RBI double by Tommy Bartashus, but that would be the only offense the Toppers could muster.
Tri-Valley created separation in the middle innings, pushing across two runs in the fourth before breaking the game open with a four-run sixth inning to put it out of reach.
Schley was sharp on the mound, earning the win after allowing just one run on four hits over six innings while striking out seven and walking one. Daxton Maurer closed things out with a scoreless seventh.
The Dawgs finished with nine hits, with Wehry leading the way. Braeden Doyle and Schley each added two hits, while Doyle drove in a pair of runs.
Nativity managed four hits, with Bartashus, Trey Keating, Ryan Grabowski and Ryan Examitas each recording one.
