POTTSVILLE — Every point mattered in Tuesday’s Schuylkill League boys’ track and field meet between Blue Mountain and Pottsville.
Every point.
When the track races were completed and the field events tallied, the Eagles and Crimson Tide battled to a 75-75 tie in a Division I dual meet at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
By Schuylkill League rule, the first tiebreaker is the number of first-place finishes. That gives Blue Mountain (2-1, 2-0 D-I) the overall victory.
Chase Guers led the way for Blue Mountain by winning four events, taking first in the 100-meter dash, 200, long jump and triple jump.
Grayson Meck added victories in the 1600 and 3200, while Brody Moyer (400), Kurt Krammes (shot put), William Shaner (javelin) and Noah Lechleitner) also notched individual wins.
Donovann Durham swept the hurdles and ran on two winning relays to pace Pottsville (1-1, 1-1). Brogan Rooney led a Pottsville sweep of the high jump, while Colin McGinley (800) and Ryan Murphy (discus) also notched wins.
The Crimson Tide forced the tie when Alexsander Rodriguez, McGinley, Shay Strencosky and Durham won the final track event, the 1600 relay.
