HS Softball: Late surge lifts Tamaqua over Tri-Valley

HEGINS — Paige Bumbulsky went 3-for-5 with a home run, three runs and two RBIs to power Tamaqua to a 10-5 victory over Tri-Valley on Friday in a non-league softball game on the Hegins-area campus.

The Bulldogs led 4-3 after four innings, but the Blue Raiders scored seven runs over the last three innings to pull away for the win.

Ceanna Gormley went 3-for-4 with two runs for Tamaqua; Molly Evans had a 2-for-5 day with a double, two RBIs and a run scored; and Naomi Knitter went 2-for-5 with a triple, one run and one RBI.

Knitter hurled a complete game to earn the win in the circle. She struck out seven and walked three.

Summer Cupsta, Tri-Valley softball

Summer Cupsta led the Dawgs, going 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored. Alina Leonard went 2-for-5 with an RBI, while Lydia Rodichok went 2-for-4 for Tri-Valley.

The Golden Girls jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Golden Bears answered with a nine-run second inning to take control. Hailey Mroczka hit a two-run double and McKenzie Scully rapped a two-run single in Mahanoy Area’s rally.

Ella Connolly went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI for the Bears.

Lauren Clark doubled, scored a run and drove in a run for Nativity.

LANSFORD — Ava Alabovitz had a big day at the plate and in the circle to lead Panther Valley to a non-league win over Shenandoah Valley.

Alabovitz went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. She pitched four innings, allowing one hit, no earned runs and striking out six.
