District 24 Little League: Semifinals set in 9-11-year-old division

The semifinals for the 9-11-year-old division of the District 24 Little League Tournament are set for Sunday after the final round of pool play was completed Thursday.
Ashland (4-0) and Blue Mountain (4-0) finished unbeaten in the seven-team bracket and will host semifinal games Sunday at 1 p.m. Ashland was named the No. 1 seed based on runs allowed after surrendering just eight runs in four games, while Blue Mountain is the No. 2 seed after giving up 14 runs in four games.
Tri-Valley (2-2) and Upper Schuylkill (2-2) earned the final two spots based on runs allowed tiebreakers. Tri-Valley allowed 35 runs, Upper Schuylkill gave up 36 and Pottsville (2-2) surrendered 39.
In Sunday’s semifinals, Upper Schuylkill will visit Ashland while Tri-Valley treks to Orwigsburg to face Blue Mountain. The championship game is set for Tuesday night, with the winner advancing to the Section 3 Tournament, which will be hosted by the Pottsville Area Little League.
The Major Division and 8-10-year-old divisions of the District 24 Little League Tournament will conclude pool play over the weekend, with their playoffs beginning with quarterfinal action Monday for the 8-10s and Tuesday for the Major Division.
