HS Football: Area teams begin practice in full pads

POTTSVILLE — After five days of heat acclimation last week, Schuylkill County football squads put on full pads Monday morning for their two-a-day preseason football practices.
Drilling will continue until Saturday, when all teams will be scrimmaging other schools. The scrimmage list, as provided by schools, is below:

After the scrimmages, teams will begin preparations for Week 1 of the regular season, which will begin Friday, Aug. 22.
In addition, preseason practices for girls’ tennis, girls’ volleyball, boys’ soccer, girls’ soccer and boys’ and girls’ cross country began Monday. The golf season began last week. The first tennis matches are scheduled for Aug. 18, with the other sports getting under way the weekend of Aug. 22-23.
